As one of the founding members of the US Green Building Council, we are committed to incorporating sustainable design into every project. We recently completed one of the first LEED certified libraries in the State of New York, the Ossining Public Library, as well as the LEED Gold rated West Hampton Town Hall. We are currently completing construction on the LEED-designed Greenburgh Public Library and have incorporated green features into the Cold Spring Harbor Library. We have also designed several buildings for the Environmental Protection Agency. We are in the construction phase of what will be a LEED Silver rated school in West Hampton and in East Hampton we are designing the first school in NY State to be submitted using standards of the Coalition for High Performance Schools (CHPS), a program that tracks sustainable design in education. We are serving as LEED consultants on the new 550,000-sf headquarters for the financial firm LEGG Mason and our sustainable practice has developed to the point where over 50% of our work is being developed within the LEED guidelines. Salvatore Coco, AIA, LEED AP, heads up the firm’s LEED initiatives. Sal has lectured on LEED design, certification and alternatives at the American Institute of Architects, the New York Library Association, the Library Journal's Design Institute, and other venues.
