Haverstraw Kings Daughters Library - Haverstraw, NY
For years the library occupied two buildings: the main branch which is located in an historic landmark building at the edge of the Hudson River in downtown Haverstraw and a branch, located in the basement of the Town Hall.  Our firm was retained to develop a program and design for a new, 36,000 sf main library, which was supported by the community in a successful referendum in the fall of 2000.

The site, located at the edge of a shopping center, is steeply sloped and has views of the Hudson River.  The building is cut into the side of the hill and takes advantage of its configuration by arranging all of the reading and public areas along the east side, facing the river.  Part of the project includes the renovation of the historic building  which will no become the branch library.
